Lions Club of Damansara - official launching of Education & Welfare fund.
I was invited by Alan Tan to shoot for this wonderful charity event. It was a truly humbling experience. It was moving to see so many less fortunate folks in need of a helping hand; equally moving and at the same time, comforting to know that there are still so many kind souls in this world who are doing their bits to help out!

Asam Laksa, Selayang Jaya
...from Selayang Jaya. Not the sour type like those from Penang Island. More towards Teochiew style i believe. The husband and wife proprietors actually hail from the same hometown as me .
RM3.50 a bowl. It has all the right herbs in it...absolutely yummy. Shredded fish, finely sliced vegetables including cucumber, onions, red chillis, (no pineapple - that's why it is not too sour), Chinese lettuce, common mint, "daun kesum" (Vietnamese mint or laksa mint) and pink bunga kantan (ginger buds), topped off with "petis udang" or "hae ko" (蝦羔), a thick sweet prawn/shrimp paste.
I always have a bowl there and ta pao (take away) two for later
With prawn fritter.....or at least used to have prawns in it in the good old days. Still nice though.
With shrimp paste too, of course :D
Yum yum, still tasted the same like it did more than 4 decades ago!
This stall serves Mee Jawa too.
It's one of the stalls in E1 kopitiam, next to a Shell station.

Kah Hin Vietnamese Restoran, Sri Sinar
Restoran Kah Hing in Tmn Sri Sinar, Segambut. Waisekmeow told me about this place so i decided to check it out today.
This street (Jalan 6/38D) is always jammed almost all day long with many inconsiderate drivers double parking. I advise you to park a little further away on 5/38D (see the map at the bottom) where you can find a spot easily and take a short walk (less than 200 meters) to the shop.
Pork Trotter Hor Fun....a bit dry but still very yummy, 7RM (Large)
the menu..simple one...prices are quite affordable!
Vietnamese Drip Coffee...very fragrant with a strong nutty flavor, hazelnut i think. 3RM
I'll definitely go back again to try all other dishes :)

Puchong Yong Tau Foo
Puchong Yong Tau Foo.
My first time there. After being seated for like a minute with no one coming to take my order, I began looking around and realized that one has to go choose what he/she likes, then pass the basket to the preparation cooks/staff:D
Yes, it doesn't get any fresher. Whether dry/fried or wet/soup items, they are all freshly made! You can really taste the freshness!
The paste was very nice, firm and springy to the bite. I think I like the YTF here more than the one in Ampang.
I seem to always order the same items every time - chili, okra, eggplant, bitter gourd:D
I ordered 9 items. Cost me only RM12.70 including a plate of rice and a cold herbal drink.
Edit: another visit there with a friend
The chili sauce was very good. Liked it.

Char Kueh Teow, Sri Sinar KL
CKT in Chu Yu kopitiam, Taman Sri Sinar, KL.
Of course, this being KL, you can expect the CKT here to be as good as say Lorong Selamat CKT or Dato Keramat Ah Leng CKT, or even Jalan Siam CKT in Penang.
One of the two ladies saw me photographing my plate of CKT so she offered to place a banana leaf on the plate for me. :)
She even let me shoot a plate of fried noodle that one of her friends was going to eat:D
RM3.70 per plate. Siham (cockles), small prawns, no lap cheong.
It's a corner unit kopitiam. Very packed during lunch time.
Pretty good for KL standard. This CKT stall is open for lunch only. Not open at night but Chu Yu kopitiam is open at night too. Nice "dai chao" for dinner.
The BBQ chicken is really good too!
