Seafood buffet - Flavors@ Swiss Garden

Five of us went for seafood buffet in Flavors restaurant, Swiss Garden Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. I thought it was a good deal since we only had to pay RM49 if we purchase the deal on LivingSocial. I was wrong!

Very good first impression, but it went straight downhill from there.


Sashimi and prawns


Only two types of shashimi....very disappointing I must say. Shogun has more selections than this 4 star hotel.


The oysters looked particularly pathetic. All of us agreed that they tasted bitter and unfresh. Two of my friends either had nausea and/or purging that night.

Restoran Murni - Kepong

I have been to Murni in SS2 a few times but never realized that there is a Murni branch in Kepong, not too far from Carrefour (Aeon Big). I think it's quite new!

Anyway, I had teh tarik there with a couple of my facebook friends today:)

Nasi goreng sambal udang petai. RM8. Really worth it IMO.




Medium sized soursop drink. RM5. Not really fond of it. Made from concentrate I am sure.


There were longan, nata de coco and watermelon in it. I think I'll just order some simpler drink next time.






My friend Yvonne ordered nasi goreng meletup. It was nice but not as good as my nasi goreng sambal udang petai :D Also RM8.

Other drinks: Honey Lemon, RM3.00; Teh Tarik Terapung, RM2.00.

I ordered the same nasi goreng sambal udang petai. You can see clearly that the portion was much smaller than the first time.

Dragon's Beard Candy - Kepong Baru

This dragon beard candy stall is at Kepong Baru Night Market that happens every Sunday night.

My choice was black sesame filling.


These didn't taste anything like the crispy, melt-in-the-mouth type I had in Hong Kong before. These would turn into one sticky, chewy lump when you bit into it!

I ate a couple of them on the spot. Sticky and chewy, stuck to my teeth. I left the remaining few in the fridge and the pieces all stuck together :(

Restoran D' Timur - Segambut

Late lunch at slightly after 2 pm. I was bored of the usual chicken rice but then I spotted this Malay restaurant! They seemed to have quite a few choices so I went in to try.

Nasi campur with chicken, beef tripe, and ulam raja. RM9.50 including a cup of hot tea. I think the price was on the high side.

Edit: other visits -

Ikan keli bakar (grilled river cat fish), bamboo shoot masak lemak with beef tripes and tempeh, and ulam (daun tenggek burung?). RM8.00 including Teh-O. Rubbery skin on the grilled keli.


Another visit: RM9.00 including teh o panas. Grilled stingray, ulam (kacang botol/4 angled beans), and fern shoot/pucuk paku.The skin of those grilled fish were all rubbery. 


Another visit: RM8.00 including teh o. Ulam Raja, kacang botol, and kembong(?) fish.


Another visit:

RM7.50 incl teh o panas. Beef rendang, eggplant with chili, and pucuk ubi & tempeh.


Quite a few dishes and types of ulam to choose from, but of course, nothing like this favorite place of mine.
