...from Selayang Jaya. Not the sour type like those from Penang Island. More towards Teochiew style i believe. The husband and wife proprietors actually hail from the same hometown as me .
RM3.50 a bowl. It has all the right herbs in it...absolutely yummy. Shredded fish, finely sliced vegetables including cucumber, onions, red chillis, (no pineapple - that's why it is not too sour), Chinese lettuce, common mint, "daun kesum" (Vietnamese mint or laksa mint) and pink bunga kantan (ginger buds), topped off with "petis udang" or "hae ko" (蝦羔), a thick sweet prawn/shrimp paste.
I always have a bowl there and ta pao (take away) two for later
With prawn fritter.....or at least used to have prawns in it in the good old days. Still nice though.
With shrimp paste too, of course :D
Yum yum, still tasted the same like it did more than 4 decades ago!
This stall serves Mee Jawa too.
It's one of the stalls in E1 kopitiam, next to a Shell station.
