Sri Sinar Curry House II - Sri Sinar

This is another curry house in Taman Sri Sinar. Just like the other (bigger) one just a stone's throw away, this one has no name either. I will just call it Sri Sinar Curry House II.

RM6.90 for this with a glass of iced lemonade, and papadam.

Dry chicken curry, eggplant and vegetables curry, and papadam too.



Fewer selections compared to the other one, but slightly better in terms of quality i think.

Acha Curry House - Gasing

I enjoy eating banana leaf rice once in a while but had a rude shock when one of the major curry houses started using fake banana leaf to serve rice on! It's just not the same. Not only the feel but the taste too!

Real banana leaf! Four types of vegetables to choose from. I chose all four. Six types of curry gravies to choose from: onion, dhal, chicken, salted fish, crab, and vegetarian. I had all six on my rice :D. Fried ikan bilis (anchovies) as well.

I ordered fried chicken as well, but forgot to take the photos. Oops :P




The staffs were really friendly and helpful! They also cleared our table when we finished eating.

Rojak and Cendol, Kepong Baru

I have passed by this place many times and always see a good crowds in the late afternoon. From what I googled, the reviews seem to be quite okay so I decided to give it a try!





The rojak was not too bad, but then again, lacking something to make it really stands out. Just okay, but ordinary.


I didn't ask for sotong like I did last time (elsewhere). I never really like pickled cuttle fish anyway so why pay more for it.


The cendol / ABC stall is manned by someone else.


Unfortunately, the cendol was really not very good at all.

Only RM2.00 though for this small bowl.

Tandoori chicken Restaurant Choice@Melawati

I have been to this place many times but never knew that they served good tandoori chicken until a friend of mine told me :D. A few days ago, I decided to have an early dinner there before heading for night macro!

Tandoori chicken, RM6. Quite tender and not dry. A bit too reddish though and I am always suspicious if there was any artificial coloring used. Quite tasty, but I prefer the one opposite Ampang Park much better.

Cost RM1 more compared to the one in Ampang, but bigger piece of meat, and a big plate of mint sauce, not very concentrated though. The chicken didn't look very juicy here but it was quite tender and juicy! Definitely better than most other tandoori places I have been to.


Garlic naan, RM3.50. Slightly thicker and also slightly more fluffy than the one from Ampang. I think I prefer this version better.


The restaurant is open 24 hours I think, but the tandoori oven will start operating at around 530pm.

Nasi kandar with 3 pieces of beef and some vege. RM10!

Ampang Tandoori Chicken

Ever since I tasted how wonderful good tandoori can be in a high end northern Indian restaurant, I was hooked. Unfortunately, good ones are hard to find. Not too long ago, I was informed about this outlet opposite Ampang Point which served good tandoori at reasonable price. Finally, I had  a chance to check it out last night!

Tandoori chicken, 2 pieces, chopped. RM10 for two pieces.


The tandoori chicken was very good. Well marinated, tender and not dry. Quite a bit of MSG though.


It was so good I almost wanted to order one more piece but decided not too :D


Garlic naan (RM2.50) and cheese naan (RM4.50). We ordered one each so we could share and enjoy both types :)

The naans were quite thin. The garlic naan was quite dry. The cheese naan was okay, of course, because of the cheese in it. The gravy and mint sauce were really no good though. Too watered out, not hot and very stingy portion.

Expect to wait about 10 to 15 minutes for your tandoori chicken.


Starts selling at night and it was still very packed even after 830pm. Just look around and you will notice that all the tables ordered tandoori chicken!

Nasi Lemak - Tmn Sri Sinar

I have passed by this place many times and the business there always seemed quite good. Finally, my curiosity got the better part of me and I stopped by there yesterday for an early dinner before my macro session.

I ordered the nasi lemak. Nice and simple with sunny-side-up fried egg, on a small piece of banana leaf too!


I ordered mutton curry as well.






The nasi lemak, a small saucer plate of mutton curry, and a glass of iced lemon tea cost me RM7.80. Quite expensive I think considering this was just a road side shack! This was my first time there, and will be the last time as well I suspect. The other place - Sri Sinar Curry House -  is much cheaper and just as good in my opinion.

Sri Sinar Curry House I in Taman Sri Sinar. Opens for lunch, dinner, supper. Not sure about breakfast. Never been there in the morning. There is another one (Sri Sinar Curry House II) a stone's throw away.

Pumpkin chutney?




Four limes (limau nipis?)..you get two the most in most mamak restaurants.


Only RM6.30 including the refreshing limau ais. The food is way better than most other mamak restaurants too.

Mee Goreng, Roti Canai, Tosai, Capati, Nasi Lemak bungkus etc are available too.

Nov 19, 2013: Nasi Lemak bungkus in real banana leaf. RM2.40 including teh tarik.
