Chu Chap Chuk - Kepong Baru

I saw this humble looking road side stall when I went to check out the night market in Kepong Baru, and decided to check it out.

RM4.20 for a small bowl. Lots of goodies/ingredients added. Even more submerged!


I will definitely visit this stall again whenever I feel like having some nice smooth porridge! I think I like this better than the famous Hon Kee in Petaling Street.




Besides chu chap chuk, you can get pork with century egg porridge, chicken porridge, fish porridge etc as well.


Starts selling at around 5 pm till around 11 pm or sold out.
Closed on Thursday.

Gerai Makan Mak Long - Tmn Bkt Maluri

This Malay mixed rice stall is located in Kawasan Perindustrian Taman Bukit Maluri, Kepong. There is no name but one of the staff told me the name is "Mak Long" :).

RM5.50. Ikan keli (cat fish) with chili, pajeri nenas (pineapple), and paku pakis (fern shoots)

Another RM1 for teh-o. Altogether RM6.50.

Really not too bad. At least not too heavily depended on MSG usage! I will definitely go back again when I feel like having Malay food but lazy to go far.


Not as many dishes as some bigger place like Anis Putri, but still not bad.








Cute kitty came asking for food. A little shy.


It's just a road side shack.


No signage as mentioned but I think this is the only Malay stall there so you can't miss. It's just a stone's throw from Fun N Cheers.

Siu Chao - Sri Sinar Food Court

This is the "Siu Chao" (小炒) stall in Sri Sinar Food Court.

Sambal petai with minced chicken. RM7.00. For RM1 more, this plate comes with way more petai than the other place here.


Again, this is not the sambal petai I am familiar with. To me, real one should be something like this.

Duck egg char kueh teow Menjalara

Duck egg char kway teow in Golden Sweet Home restaurant (唐人佳茶餐廳). Menjalara, Kepong, near Tesco Kepong Village Mall.

The name is a little silly but I checked out the all the stalls inside (and outside) and they all looked quite good! I settled on the char kway teow with duck egg.

Duck egg char kway teow. RM5.20. Quite nice, enough "wok hei" and quite reasonably priced for duck egg.

Tiong Kee fish head noodle-Kepong Baru

Tiong Kee fish head noodle, in Gerai Makan Hawaiian, Jalan Kepong Baru.

Fish fillet noodle. You can opt for fish head too. Only grouper fish availabe. Grouper fish fillets noodle with salted vegetable, in peppery soup.RM7.50

Grouper is just not my kind of fish. I dislike the rough texture of it.
