Janwa Thai restaurant in Bandar Menjalara, near Kepong Village Mall. I have heard so much about this Thai food restaurant so when a friend was in town, we had a small gathering there to try out the food.
We wanted to order Miang Kham but the restaurant didn't have this item :(.
Seafood tom yum. RM15. The prawns weren't fresh at all. Luckily the tom yum soup was really nice, albeit a little on the sweet side.
Belacan stir fried paku. RM15. Nice but I think I have tasted better ones. I also wonder where to find the santan (coconut milk) style which I absolutely love. I also think the similar dish in the other place is nicer.
Sotong (squid) in lime broth. RM25. The sotong was fresh, but I found the broth a little disappointing. Nowhere as potent as the broth in the steamed fish dish here. This was the only dish with a little bit of leftover even though the squid was nice and fresh. It was nice but probably just a little boring compared to the rest.
Deep fried century eggs and seafood. RM18. This was a nice surprise. We ordered this out of curiosity but it turned out to be our fave. The deep fried basil leaves were great to munch on too!
After the main course, time for dessert. We wanted some Tako but again, not available. So we settled for 2 bowls of red ruby (Tub Tim Grob) for the four of us.
RM2.80. Red ruby dessert (Tub Tim Grob), with water chestnut. Too little water chestnut and too much tapioca flour. Only one out of a few red rubies chunks had water chestnut in it. The jackfruit strips were simply not fresh at all.
