Fish head curry - Ah Lye, SS19

I have been to Ah Lye Curry Fish Head a few times. Quite like the fish head curry there but it was the asam prawn that keeps me coming back from time to time! I first read about this place on EatingAsia.

Thick, creamy, fragrant fish head curry. A little mild in terms of spiciness/hotness for me but I think that's the limit for most of the customers.


Not too fond of the type of fish used. Grouper I think. A little on the tough and chewy side. I prefer red snapper and/or other fish with more tender meat.


Deep fried Lam Yu pork cutlets. This was actually our second plate. We ordered a smaller plate of this while waiting anxiously for our two other guests to arrive :P


Fried egg and onion, with a few prawns. Simple but nice.


And of course, no meal is complete without vegetable! Stir fried kailan.


Asam prawns. Big tiger prawns, deep fried and coated with thick, tangy and sweet asam sauce. My favorite!


The prawn was this big!
